While jazz and improvisation are areas of particular expertise, I enjoy teaching students interested in rock, folk, blues, pop, fingerstyle, singer-songwriter music, and many other styles. The goal is not to guide every student toward the same musical path, but to help each person develop the skills and confidence to play the music they love.

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe music should be creative, enjoyable, and personal. Great musicians aren't built simply by memorizing scales or method books. They're built by learning how to listen, solve problems, think creatively, and express themselves through music.

Every student learns differently. Some want to play songs around a campfire. Others want to improvise over jazz standards, prepare for college auditions, or write original music. The goal is not to guide every student toward the same musical path, but to help each person develop the skills, confidence, and understanding to play the music they love.
